Following the issuance of a “No Objection” certificate for the aerodrome’s operation by the GMR Group, which oversees Hyderabad Airport, the Telangana government issued orders authorising the expenditure of Rs 205 crore to acquire more than 280 acres of land for the development of Mamnoor Airport at Warangal.
The GO, which was released on Sunday, states that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) notified the state government in July 2022 that it was prepared to build Warangal Airport for A-320 aircraft operating under IFR (instrument flight rules) and that it was willing to pay for the proposed airport’s infrastructure, operations, and maintenance.
A master plan has been established for the operation of A-320 type of aircraft for which an extra land totalling 253 acres is required from the state government of Telangana, free of cost and free from any encumbrances.
The AAI also requested that the state government adopt the plan and quickly transfer the necessary land to the airport’s body and Hyderabad International Airport Ltd.’s certificate of no objection.
According to the concession agreement between the Ministry of Civil Aviation and GMR Group, which oversees Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here, no airport, whether new or existing, may be developed as, enhanced, or upgraded into a domestic or international airport within 150 kilometres of the Hyderabad Airport before the 25th anniversary of the opening date.
