Rupee Vs. USD: Indian Rupee Opens 6 Paise Lower Against The USD

On Tuesday, the Indian rupee opened 6 paise lower against the US dollar due to a stronger greenback and rising crude oil prices. The local currency began trading at 82.31 per dollar, compared to the previous day’s closing rate of 82.25.

The dollar index, which measures the strength of the US dollar against a basket of currencies, reached above 102, marking a nearly three-week high.

In the domestic market, the benchmark equity indices, Sensex and Nifty, showed a flat performance during the pre-opening session. On the previous trading day, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold Indian shares worth Rs 701.17 crore, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 2,488.07 crore, as per provisional data from the exchanges.
