In Mumbai, a liter of gasoline costs Rs106.31, and a liter of diesel costs Rs94.27. Delhi’s prices for gasoline and diesel per liter are Rs96.72 and Rs 89.62, respectively. The prices for gasoline and diesel in Chennai and Kolkata are Rs102.63 and Rs94.24, respectively, and Rs106.03 and Rs92.76.
According to reports, oil marketing businesses lose Rs13.08 on each liter of gasoline and Rs24.09 on each liter of diesel. The majority of gasoline consumed in India is imported.
Wednesday saw a slight decline in oil prices after industry data revealed that US crude stocks unexpectedly increased last week, pointing to a potential slowdown in demand. For the week ending August 5, US oil stockpiles increased by nearly 2.2 million barrels, according to data from the American Petroleum Institute cited by market sources.
