Indian markets in mixed zone

By 12 pm, 28th May, 2024, the Sensex is down by 26.21 points, or 0.03%, to 75,364.29, while the Nifty is up slightly by 5.95 points, or 0.03%, to 22,938.40. Market breadth was negative with approximately 1,187 shares advancing, 2,070 shares declining, and 96 shares remaining unchanged.

On the BSE Sensex, 12 out of 30 stocks were trading lower. The biggest laggards included Power Grid Corp., NTPC, Tata Motors, Tech Mahindra, and SBI. Conversely, the top gainers were Hindustan Unilever, UltraTech Cement, TCS, Bajaj Finance, and Mahindra & Mahindra.

Similarly, on the Nifty 50, 23 out of 50 stocks were trading in the red. Adani Ports & SEZ, Power Grid Corp., BPCL, Coal India, and NTPC were the main decliners, while Divi’s Laboratories, HDFC Life, Hero MotoCorp, Dr. Reddy’s, and SBI Life led the gains.

The broader market also trended downwards, with the BSE SmallCap index falling by 0.86% and the BSE MidCap index declining by 0.71%.

Sector-wise, Nifty Pharma and Nifty IT were the top performers, while Nifty Realty and Nifty Energy experienced the most significant losses. Most sectoral indices were in the red, except for FMCG and pharma. Both the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices were down by 0.5% each.
