On August 29, state-run oil firms announced that the price of gasoline and diesel had stayed the same nationwide for the fifth day in a row. On August 24, Delhi’s gasoline and diesel prices were lowered to Rs101.49 and Rs88.92, respectively. On August 29, the national capital’s pricing stayed the same.
Similar trends were seen in Mumbai’s fuel pricing. Retail gasoline costs Rs107.52 per liter, remaining constant. The financial center made history on May 29 when it became the first metro area in the nation to sell gasoline for more than Rs 100 a liter.
In the capital of Maharashtra, diesel continues to be sold at Rs96.48 per liter. Kolkata’s gasoline and diesel rates per liter remained the same at Rs101.82 and Rs91.98, respectively. The cost of a liter of gasoline in Chennai was Rs99.20. A previous tax reduction of Rs3 per liter on gasoline had been announced by the DMK administration in Tamil Nadu. The capital of Tamil Nadu’s diesel price remained steady at Rs93.52 per liter.
The price of gasoline and diesel last increased on July 17. Prior to that, from May 4 to July 17, the price of gasoline rose by Rs11.44 per liter. The cost of diesel had increased by Rs9.14 during this time. Over half of the country saw gasoline prices rise above Rs100 per liter during this time, while at least three states saw diesel prices reach that level.
