Leading product and digital player Tata Technologies is prepared to start working on revamping Air India’s operations by digitalizing its fleet and equipment data. As the Tata Group steps forward with the revival of country’s oldest airline, it also plans to introduce digital solutions for maintenance of aircrafts.
Tata Technologies’ executive vice-president and head of growth industries, Aloke Palsikar expressed that Air India is not just a business for the Tatas as there is a lot of emotion involved.
Tata Group will utilize its entire strength to bring Air India back on its feet, stated Palsikar further.
Tata Technologies won the bid for the defunct former national carrier last year. In January 2022, the company took over Air India’s management from the government.
Palsikar further emphasized that the company has started the integration process and are in conversation for a lot of their domains.
The work will include digitization of the fleet and equipment data of Air India and also bringing digital solutions to aircraft maintenance. Additionally, to repair and overhaul the unit acquired with the airline.
Air India envisages ordering over 300 planes, even as it sells old aircraft. Company recently called bids for its three long-range, wide-bodied Boeing 777 planes.
Tata Motors participates in 74% stake of Tata Technologies. Further, 75% of the company’s revenue is from the automotive sector, followed by industrial heavy machines and aerospace.
