NTPC, an Indian power producer, plans to explore overseas sourcing of battery minerals like lithium, cobalt, and nickel, as confirmed by three Reuters sources. India, a significant greenhouse gas emitter, is actively seeking agreements with resource-rich nations like Australia, Argentina, and Chile to secure vital minerals.
The Indian government has identified 30 critical minerals, including nickel, titanium, vanadium, and tungsten, essential for driving the nation’s clean energy initiatives. India’s goal is to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2070, aligning with its sustainability objectives.
