
Indian equity markets concluded the day with gains after witnessing a day full of volatility. Nifty 50 closed at 17,100, up by 114 points. BSE Sensex closed 355 points higher.
HCL Tech was the top gainer on the Nifty index. Hindalco, Ultratech Cement, UPL, and JSW Steel joined the rally. Eicher Motors emerged as the top laggard on NSE. NTPC, Maruti Suzuki, ITC, and Power Grid also weighed down the chart.
Metal Stocks ended the day on a positive note with the highest gains. Bank and Financial Services stocks also ended higher. However, Media stocks ended the day on a sluggish note dragged by a decline in Zee Entertainment’s stock.
Reliance recorded the highest trading value. TCS, ITC, HDFC Bank, and Kotak Bank joined the most active stocks list in terms of value. Tata Steel, ITC, NTPC, Power Grid, and SBI were the most active stocks on NSE in terms of trading volume.
15 stocks on NSE touched new 52-week highs, and 139 stocks on NSE touched new 52-week lows. Overall markets remained highly volatile.
