
Indian benchmark indices opened flat and soon started trading higher on Monday amid positive global cues. Power, PSU Banks, realty stocks lifted the performance in today’s trade.
At 09:18 AM, the 30-share BSE index was trading 168 points higher at 60,013.71, and the broader NSE Nifty was up 59 points to 17,865.80.
In the Nifty50 pack, HUL, Asian Paints, Dr Reddy's, Nestle India, Tata Consumers were down marginally.
Adani Enterprises was the top gainer in the Nifty50 pack, advancing over 1.50 per cent, followed by Hindalco, Coal India, IndusInd Bank and Power Grid.
Further, shares of New Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV) share price surged 2 percent after founders Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy said on December 23 that they have decided to transfer majority of their shares in the company to billionaire Gautam Adani, giving his conglomerate control over nearly 65 percent of the news network.
Asian markets opened in the green led by the Japanese 'Nikkei' which was the only major Asian market open for trading as most other exchanges were closed day after Christmas.
