Nifty Auto holds steady amidst volatile markets as heavyweights Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp and Maruti drive the chart

Nifty Auto holds a steady ground despite domestic equity market trading volatile. On the index, the majority of stocks advanced and emerged as top gainers whilst other sectoral indices also edged up. Heavyweights were major drivers of keeping bears off the bay. 

Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp, Amara Raja, and Eicher Motors drive the index’s performance. While Ashok Leyland, MRF, and TI India remained under pressure.

Domestic equity benchmark Sensex witnessed a gloomy session, however, in the second half of the trading session, some early losses were recovered. The Nifty Bank being the highest sectoral gainer in today’s trade adding over 1% gains.

At around 1.18 PM, BSE Sensex was trading at 58,116.64 points, gaining 283.67 points or 0.49% so far. NSE Nifty index gained 66.55 points at 17,342.85 points, up by 0.39%.

Nifty Auto was trading at 11,431.60 points, adding 0.10% or 11.15 points since its previous closing. It has touched day’s high and low of 11,446.50 and 11,260.40 points respectively.

On the index, Tata Motors remained the highest gainer adding 1.10% until noon trade, followed by Maruti Suzuki, and Hero MotoCorp adding 0.89% and 0.86% gains respectively so far. Eicher Motors (+0.46%), Amar Raja (+0.26%), Bharat Forge (+0.22%), TVS Motor (+0.11%) and Balkrishna Industries also added marginal gains extending support to the index.

Conversely, Exide Industries, and TI India sheds 0.51% and 0.63% respectively accompanied by Mahindra & Mahindra (-0.23%), Bajaj Auto (-0.39%) and Bosch (-0.03%), witnessing marginal downfall.
