JSW Cement has announced the commissioning of an additional 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) capacity at its Vijayanagar plant in Karnataka, signaling its growth in the cement sector.
The expansion involved an investment of ₹461 Crore, which has increased the total capacity of the Vijayanagar plant to 6 MTPA. With this new addition, JSW Cement’s overall installed grinding capacity has now reached 20.6 MTPA, reinforcing its commitment to producing green cementitious products.
The company aims to increase its overall grinding capacity to 40.85 MTPA through a mix of greenfield and brownfield expansions across India in the near future.
As part of its broader strategy, JSW Cement is focusing on investing in projects in northern and central India, with plans for additional units in states such as Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.
This expansion highlights JSW Cement’s dedication to sustainable manufacturing practices that align with the global shift towards a circular economy.
Nilesh Narwekar, CEO of JSW Cement, stated that the company will continue to prioritize innovative and sustainable manufacturing methods as it expands within the integrated operations of the JSW Group.
