Kia India Targets Doubling CKD Exports by 2030, Eyes Middle East and Africa

26 Nov 2024 , 05:20 PM

Kia India aims to double CKD exports by 2030, targeting the Middle Eastern and African markets as part of its long-term global strategy. The company has exported more than 100,000 CKD units since it started shipment from its Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh in June 2020.

Kia India accounts for 50% of Kia Corporation’s global CKD exports, which makes it a vital contributor to Kia’s global operations. In all, Kia India has exported 367,000 units of automobiles, including popular models Seltos, Sonet and Carens.

For the calendar year 2024, the company expects to export over 38,000 CKD units to countries such as Uzbekistan, Ecuador, and Vietnam. The company’s plant at Anantapur is fitted with high technology, and is nearly all major ports, providing excellent export logistics.

Kia India continues to step up business in the Middle East and Africa, driven by rising demand for affordable and reliable vehicles from those regions. Joonsu Cho Chief Sales Officer Kia India announced expansion of CKD operations in these regions to double export volumes by 2030.

India’s export friendly policies enabled the company to grow and gain a foothold in the global value chain of automobiles, the company stated. CKD exports form part of Kia India’s focus on CKD exports to fulfill domestic demand and assume the role of a global manufacturing hub.
