The Agro-Circle Project’s main goal is to develop unique value chain concepts for the manufacture of circular materials from agro-industrial byproducts. This project will aim to develop techniques to produce new bio-based materials from natural polymers extracted from farm waste materials, in addition to avoiding pollution caused by the direct burning of crop residues on the fields, which is the leading cause of poor air quality in northern India during the winter season.
Lixea Compular, Sweden, intends to build a cellulose synthesis method from agricultural rice residue utilising Lixea’s Dendronic Process. Lignflow Technologies, A.B. Sweden, in collaboration with IIT (BHU)-Varanasi, intends to promote lignin manufacturing. Vikas Lifecare will play a key role in the development of a technique for producing Nano silica from rice husk.
Stockholm University and the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU)-Varanasi will contribute to the project by characterising lignocellulose fractions. Furthermore, IIT (BHU)-Varanasi, Stockholm University, and Bio-Nano will collaborate to develop innovative bio-based functionalized cellulosic fibres.
