A Jet Airways flight, with 105 passengers on board, had a narrow escape on Thursday. An engine failure forced the flight to return soon after taking off from the Delhi airport. “S2 231 Delhi-Bengaluru returned to Delhi following a technical snag. There were 117 passengers and crew on board the flight. Alternative arrangements are being made to fly the guests to their destination,” said a Jet Airways spokesperson. “Soon after taking off from the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), the pilot in command of S2 231 discovered a snag in the flight and alerted the Air Traffic Controller in Delhi. The ATC cleared the pilot’s request for an emergency landing.
The flight landed on runway 29-11 at 7:55 a.m.,” said a source. A fleet of vehicles and fire-tenders, kept on the stand-by, rushed to the aircraft and helped the passengers disembark. The passengers and the baggage were shifted to terminal. “The emergency paraphernalia such as fire tenders and ambulance at the airport were kept on alert. The Boeing 737-700 landed normally,” the source added. The Bangalore-bound flight had taken off from the Delhi airport at 7:10 a.m.
