IndiGo began operating 35 flights on Monday from the new Terminal 1 building at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, according to TOI. Officials told TOI that operations at the terminal went smoothly. IndiGo and Spicejet have now partially transferred their operations to Terminal 1.
“Flight operations were smooth after 35 IndiGo departures were shifted to the new T1 from Monday,” stated an airport official to TOI.
The first IndiGo flight to depart from the new T1 was 6E 449 for Mumbai at roughly 5 a.m. SpiceJet relocated 13 flights to the new building on August 17, making it operational.
The airline stated that it has taken steps to advise customers of the move to T1. “Domestic flights with flight numbers 2000-2999 will operate from Terminal 2 and flight numbers 5000 to 5999 will operate from Terminal 3, and the rest of the flights will operate from Terminal 1,” according to an IndiGo press release.
However, the former T1 building, where the canopy at the forecourt fell on June 28 owing to severe rains, remains sealed off.
The former T1 structure, from departure gates 1 to 4, is still inaccessible to passengers.
IndiGo passengers will need to access the new building via entrance gates 5 and 6 on the first floor. SpiceJet passengers will enter through gate A on the ground floor. All passenger arrivals will be processed through dedicated arrival gates on the ground floor.
