Group Chairman Gautam Singhania told Reuters that Raymond Lifestyle will hire roughly 9,000 staff for the hundreds of outlets it intends to open over the next three years.
Singhania stated on Monday that the clothing company wants to hire 10 employees on average per store at the 900 locations it intends to open, without revealing the number of employees it now employs at its almost 1,500 locations.
Established in 1925, Raymond’s company, which also consists of its engineering and real estate divisions, separated its lifestyle section earlier this year in an effort to streamline its organisational structure, draw in new investors, and facilitate the carved-out entity’s access to more funding.
“Raymond Lifestyle will also hire for jobs in its factories as it aims to increase its garmenting capacity,” he said without providing further details, given that Bangladesh, a major hub for clothing manufacture, is dealing with floods and political upheaval.
The company, which has clients including clothing retailers like J.C. Penney and Macy’s, is getting a lot of enquiries from clients around the world because businesses “have decided to move to India to meet their requirements,” Singhania said.
