On Thursday, October 24, 2024, NTPC Ltd reported a 19.6% increase in net profit of ₹4,648 Crore for the September quarter. Maharatna Power’s net profit in the previous year was ₹3,885 Crore, according to an exchange filing.
The company’s revenue decreased by 1.3% YoY to ₹40,327.6 Crore in the quarter, from ₹40,875 Crore the previous year.
NTPC’s EBITDA decreased by 8.2% to ₹9,676.4 Crore from ₹10,537 Crore last year, indicating weaker operational performance.
The company’s EBITDA margin of 24% decreased year on year from 25.7% and fell short of the market expectation of 28%.
In the April-September quarter of current fiscal year, the company’s average rate was ₹4.67 per unit, up from ₹4.61 per unit the previous year.
The Board of Directors approved the first interim dividend of ₹2.50 per paid-up equity share of ₹10 for the fiscal year 2024-25. The dividend payment date will be November 18, 2024.
NTPC’s gross power generation declined to 88.46 billion units (BU) in the second quarter, down from 90.30 BU a year earlier.
Its captive mines produced 9.03 MMT of coal in the quarter, up from 5.59 MMT the previous year. From April to September this fiscal year, production increased to 18.67 MMT from 11.83 MMT previously.
