The world’s best all-terrain vehicle, the BvS10, is now available in the Indian market thanks to a collaboration between BAE Systems and Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T). The BvS10 for the Articulated All-Terrain Vehicle (AATV) for the Indian Armed Forces is now available thanks to a licensing and production deal reached by the two businesses.
According to the deal, BAE Systems Hägglunds, the Swedish maker of the highly successful BvS10 family of vehicles, would support L&T as the primary for the Indian market. The BvS10 has been updated by BAE Systems and L&T to fulfill the demands of the Indian Armed Forces. The BvS10-Sindhu will be the name of this new variation. The AATV program seeks to provide integrated logistic support (ILS) and vehicles from L&T’s Armoured Systems Complex.
When the Indian Army takes part in the trials later this month, our BvS10 all-terrain vehicle will show off the crucial qualities it needs. At the heart of the BvS10 design are unmatched mobility, versatility, and the capacity to operate in harsh climates, according to Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, managing director of BAE Systems Hägglunds. By collaborating with Larsen & Toubro, we have the chance to grow throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
The opportunity is seen by Larsen & Toubro as a catalyst for L&T’s Armoured Systems company to expand under the auspices of a solid manufacturing and design foundation combined with BAE Systems’ expertise. According to Mr. Arun Ramchandani, Executive Vice President & Head of L&T Defence, ‘the partnership between L&T and BAE Systems synergizes our strengths to provide a solution to meet the expectations of the Indian Army.’ The BvS10-Sindhu is the perfect vehicle for the treacherous terrain and extreme weather conditions where it is intended to be used.
This week’s DSEI in London will include a BvS10 vehicle equipped with a Mobile Short Range Air Defence system (MSHORAD). This exemplifies the vehicle’s adaptability as it develops into a modular fighting vehicle that can carry a wide range of payloads to handle practically any threat in the contemporary operating environment without affecting the under-armor volume.
The BvS10’s articulated mobility allows for the best possible manoeuvrability over a variety of terrains, including steep mountain situations, snow, ice, rock, sand, and mud. The vehicle can swim in flooded areas and coastal waterways because to its amphibious capabilities. In the modern operating environment, it can deploy soldiers, supplies, and mounted lethality to deal with any danger.
The BvS10 may be modified for a variety of missions thanks to its modular construction. It can be given in a variety of forms, including those for human transportation, command and control, emergency medical services, vehicle repair and recovery, logistical support, situational awareness, and weapons mounted on vehicles for lethality and support.
Currently, Austria, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom are among the countries using the vehicle. The German Army has also placed an order for it. In August, the U.S. Army’s competition for its Cold Weather All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV) program was won by BAE Systems’ Beowulf, an unarmored version of the BvS10. Over a five-year period, 110 vehicles will be delivered to the U.S. Army.
