An executive at Bharti Airtel has announced the telecom company’s intention to expand its subscription-based home surveillance service to cover 1,100 cities across India by the end of the 2023-24 financial year.
Currently offered in 45 cities, the service is being promoted as an expansion of the company’s consumer-facing business, intended to capture a greater share of consumers’ spending.
According to Shashwat Sharma, Bharti Airtel’s Director of Consumer Business, ‘Airtel Xsafe’ is an addition to their current ‘Homes service’ package, which includes broadband and DTH services. The new surveillance service is part of their strategy to create a connected home ecosystem.
He further stated that ‘although the service is managed by Airtel Digital, it is designed to be compatible with all home broadband connections, including those that are not provided by Bharti Airtel.’
Sharma has also declared that they aim to extend their service coverage to all the areas where Airtel Fibre is available by the end of 2022. Currently, Airtel Fibre is available in around 1,100 cities, and the company plans to expand its services to these locations.
