Bimal Dayal, a former managing director, and chief executive of Indus Towers, will begin serving as CEO of Adani Transmission, India’s largest private transmission operator, on October 1, according to news reports.
The report noted that Dayal, who recently left the top position at Indus for personal reasons, will answer to Anil Sardhana, MD, Adani Transmission.
Dayal, a veteran of the telecom industry, will now play a key role in the power distribution and transmission operations of the Gautam Adani-led conglomerate.
However, his impending admission to the Adani fold comes just a few months after a division of the Adani Group made modest acquisitions of Rs212 crore for 400 units of 5G airwaves in six locations in the last spectrum sale. These purchases were made in the 26 GHz band. However, the Adani group intends to use the airwaves only for the sake of its own captive private network.
For its part, Indus has not yet chosen Dayal’s replacement. According to a recent exchange filing by Indus, Tejinder Kalra, the chief operating officer, and Vikas Poddar, the chief financial officer, would share responsibility for the operation of the telecom towers company in the short term.
