Oil marketing companies (OMCs) in India have kicked off the year by raising the price of commercial liquid petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders by Rs25.
Regular consumers may not feel the pinch with the price of domestic cylinders remaining unchanged, but restaurateurs and hoteliers will. The price of commercial cylinders will now be Rs1,769 in Delhi, Rs1,721 in Mumbai, Rs1,870 in Kolkata, and Rs1,971 in Chennai.
Prior to this, OMC raised prices on July 6, 2022.
LPG prices were raised four times in 2022, first by Rs50 in March 2022, then by Rs50 again in May, and then by Rs3.50 again in May. Finally, in July, it raised domestic cylinder prices by Rs50.
OMCs slashed the prices of commercial cooking gas across the four metro cities by 115.5% in November 2022. The OMC reduced the price of commercial gas cylinders by 91.5% and 25.50% in September and October, respectively.
Commercial LPG cylinder prices have dropped by Rs 610 per kg since June 2022.
