On October 26, Indian equity indices experienced a decline of more than 1%, marking the sixth consecutive session of losses.
By the closing bell, the Sensex had retreated by 900.91 points, or 1.41%, closing at 63,148.15. Simultaneously, the Nifty had fallen by 264.90 points, or 1.39%, ending the day at 18,857.30. This market movement was characterized by 1211 shares advancing, 1943 shares declining, and 101 shares remaining unchanged.
Among the major losers on the Nifty were companies such as M&M, Bajaj Finance, Asian Paints, UPL, and Bajaj Finserv. Conversely, gainers included Axis Bank, HCL Technologies, Adani Ports, IndusInd Bank, and ITC.
In the broader market, the BSE Midcap index saw a 1% decrease, while the Smallcap index experienced a 0.3% decline.
It’s worth noting that, with the exception of the power sector, all other sectoral indices were trading in negative territory.
