Indian Oil petrol stations will sell Tesla Power Batteries

28 Apr 2023 , 06:08 AM

According to a joint statement from the two businesses, Indian Oil and Tesla Power USA have formed a strategic agreement to supply car batteries at petrol stations around the nation.

In the beginning, a few Indian Oil petrol stations in the national capital area would sell Tesla Power batteries. Later, the batteries will be made accessible at petrol stations in additional states. Lead-acid and lithium batteries are both available from Tesla Power USA.

Customers would benefit from the relationship, according to Vigyan Kumar, executive director of Indian Oil. The corporation has 36,000 gas stations across the nation.

‘By 2023, Tesla Power hopes to treble its current number of distribution points in India, which is over 5000. The addition of IOCL gas stations may provide Tesla Power USA distribution reach of over 40,000; this would be the greatest for any battery brand in India, according to Kavinder Khurana, MD, Tesla Power USA.

Indian Oil and its affiliates own a 47 percent market share for petroleum products and 40.4% of the country’s refining capacity.
