In a highly volatile trading session, the Indian equity indices concluded on a relatively flat note on April 3.
At the close, the Sensex edged down by 27.09 points or 0.04% to reach 73,876.82, while the Nifty dipped by 18.60 points or 0.08% to settle at 22,434.70. Among the traded stocks, 2623 witnessed gains, 914 experienced losses, and 82 remained unchanged.
Major gainers on the Nifty included Shriram Finance, NTPC, TCS, Axis Bank, and Tech Mahindra, whereas Nestle India, Bajaj Auto, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Britannia Industries, and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories were among the notable losers.
In terms of sectoral performance, the Realty index suffered a decline of 2.5%, while the Auto index slipped by 0.4%. Conversely, the Power and PSU Bank indices saw gains of 1% each, with the Information Technology and Media indices also posting modest gains of 0.5% each.
The BSE midcap index saw a rise of 0.6%, and the smallcap index recorded a gain of 1% during the session.
