India's fuel demand increased y-o-y by 5% in March

According to data released on Monday by the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) of the oil ministry, India’s fuel consumption, a proxy for oil demand, increased 5% year over year in March.

Products weighing 20.50 million tonnes were consumed in total.

While sales of cooking gas, also known as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), decreased 2.7% year over year to 2.41 million tonnes, sales of fuel, also known as petrol, increased 6.8% to 3.1 million tonnes.

Fuel oil use grew more than 2% in March compared to February, while bitumen sales, which are used to build roads, increased 16.5% month over month.
