Metal index gained over 1% on Monday

The Nifty Metal and the S&P BSE Metal indexes rose more than 1% on the bourses on Monday in a generally quiet market. This happened as a consequence of the reopening of the Chinese economy, as the reopening brightened the prospects for global growth and commodity demand.
  • The Nifty Metal index was up 1.04 % 
  • S&P BSE Metal index was up 1.9 %  
  • Nifty 50 and the S&P BSE Sensex were down 0.14 and 0.15 %

Metal stocks that increased 2% to 4%: Hindalco Industries, National Aluminium Company (Nalco), Hindustan Copper, Tata Steel, and Hindustan Zinc
Metal stocks that increased 1% to 1.9%: Steel Authority of India (SAIL), Jindal Steel, JSW Steel, Jindal Steel and Power, and Vedanta
