Navnit Nakra, CEO of OnePlus India, resigns

1 Jun 2023 , 12:01 PM

Navnit Nakra, the CEO of OnePlus India, has departed from the organization after three years. The phone company has acknowledged Nakra’s departure and reaffirmed its commitment to the people of India and the community there.

‘We appreciate Navnit’s support of OnePlus India. We wish him luck in his future endeavors as he has played a key role in managing the India business over the last three years,’ the company stated in a statement to ET.

OnePlus has declared its continued focus on India, emphasizing its dedication to the market.

Prior to joining OnePlus India in 2020, Nakra served as Apple’s Head of Affordability in India for more than three years. He oversaw strategic initiatives for creating consumer and business finance options across various product categories, including watches, tablets, laptops, and smartphones.

Nakra initially joined OnePlus India as Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer before being promoted to Chief Executive Officer, where he was responsible for sales operations in the region.

In a statement to the OnePlus community, Nakra announced his decision to move on from OnePlus after careful consideration. He expressed his desire to spend time with his family and pursue his personal interests.

‘While I am no longer a member of the business team, it has been a pleasure to be part of our great Community. I hope you all would grant me the privilege of remaining a member of the OnePlus Community,’ Nakra said.

Under Nakra’s leadership, OnePlus successfully established its position in the mid-premium category with the Nord smartphone series, which has been a volume generator for the company.

Additionally, OnePlus has focused on expanding its IoT device ecosystem with the introduction of new products such as tablets, TWS earbuds, and smart TVs since 2022.

In 2023, OnePlus plans to introduce several 5G products in India, including a 5G Wi-Fi router. Furthermore, the company will launch its first foldable smartphone in August of this year.
