NHAI's debt stands at Rs3.5 lakh crore

As of March 31, 2022, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has an estimated Rs3.49 lakh crore rupees in unpaid debt, according to information provided to Parliament on Wednesday. Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari stated that the amount of money needed by NHAI for debt servicing years 2022—2023, 2023—2024, and 2024—2025 will be Rs31,282 crore, Rs31,909 crore, and Rs30,552 crore in a written response to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
An independent government organization known as the National Highways Authority of India, or NHAI, was established in 1995 (Act 1988) and is in charge of managing a network of more than 50,000 km of national highways out of the 1,32,499 km total in India.
