According to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, the government wants to increase the automotive sector’s revenue to Rs 15 lakh crore from Rs 7.5 lakh crore.
Gadkari took aim at Congress during his speech at a public event in Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh area to showcase the accomplishments of the central government over the past nine years, claiming that while fighting to end poverty, Congress politicians really ended their own poverty.
‘The automotive industry has a 7.55 lakh crore rupee annual revenue and employs four and a half crore people. The government receives the most GST from this sector. We have agreed to invest Rs 15 lakh crore in this business,’ he added, adding that it would create 10 crore employment.
In addition, he said that India has overtaken Japan in the global race to produce automobiles, coming in third behind China and the US.
He emphasized the need of education, saying that ‘our future is in turning knowledge into wealth because knowledge is a great power.’
He claimed that thanks to the production of ethanol and solar power, farmers today not only supply food but also energy. Automobiles, including auto-rickshaws and cars, will operate on ethanol, reducing India’s reliance on imports while benefiting its farmers.
According to Gehlot, the 9 million-ton Pachpadra refinery will facilitate easier vehicle circulation between Jodhpur and Pachpadra by connecting to the Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway.
According to the chief minister, the state is also upgrading its infrastructure in addition to building new highways. In the state, over 1.32 lakh miles of roads are being built. In this, 61,000 km of roads have been built, and work is currently being done on another 71,000 km.
He stated that the state administration has done everything possible to build a robust road network while presiding over the event. The state’s improved transportation connectivity has accelerated economic and industrial development. Rajasthan has now entered the top states in the nation with a robust road system.
