Rupee slips 35 paise to 82.63 / $

12 Dec 2022 , 11:39 AM

As strong selling pressure in domestic equities and a strong dollar in the international market dampened investor morale, the rupee fell 35 paise to 82.63 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday.
At the interbank foreign exchange, the local unit had a shaky start versus the dollar, trading at 82.54, before losing more ground to quote at 82.63, falling 35 paise from its previous close. About the US dollar, the rupee ended the day on Friday 10 paise higher at 82.28.
The dollar index, a measure of the dollar’s value relative to a basket of six other currencies, rose 0.35 % to 105.16. The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 486.34 points, or 0.78 %, at 61,695.33 on the domestic equity market. To 18,357.80, the NSE Nifty lost 138.80 points or 0.75 %.
