Tata Steel’s consolidated output fell 3.2% to 7.26 million tonne in the second quarter of the current fiscal year. Tata Steel said in a statement that its consolidated output was 7.5 MT in the previous year.
Consolidated deliveries were 6.89 MT during the period, down from 7.06 MT in the previous quarter, a 2.40% decrease. Tata Steel India produced 4.99 MT of steel during the review period, up from 4.80 MT during the same period the previous fiscal year.
According to the statement, deliveries in India were down to 4.82 MT from 4.91 MT in the same period last year. Tata Steel produced 1.99 MT of steel in Europe from April to September, down from 2.40 MT the previous year. In Europe, deliveries declined to 1.79 MT from 1.87 MT.
Tata Steel Thailand produced 0.28 MT of steel, compared to 0.30 MT the previous year, although deliveries were the same. Automotive and special products segment deliveries climbed by roughly 7% quarter on quarter and year on year.
This was due to the best-ever second-quarter sales. Tata Steel has started to get clearances from automobile OEMs for cold-rolled steel from the recently commissioned Kalinganagar cold-rolling factory.
Tata Steel Europe’s liquid steel output for the quarter was 1.99 million tonnes, up 11% from the previous quarter but down from the year-ago period, according to the company.
