ITM University, one among India’s foremost independent multidisciplinary universities, recently bagged the prestigious PR, Marketing Communications Award by Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) in recognition to its contribution in community service amongst universities of the Commonwealth.
‘Yukti’ a social initiative of the university encompasses various social programmes for the under privileged, in particular children. The blood donation by over 500 students was the distinctive feature of the social outreach activity.
‘Yukti’ also empowers underprivileged and differently abled students with books and assist them in securing admissions in various schools. They are encouraged and inspired by giving them a platform during various university functions to exhibit their skills and talents.
For people from the poorest of poor section of society, residing in the nearby villages around the university, the students arrange woolen clothes and blankets from the members of the university and distribute to those who cannot afford winter clothing.
“It’s a moment of pride for us to receive the coveted award from ACU. The university further resolves to take up more social initiatives to bring cheer to the lives of the poorest of poor, in future.
The coveted recognition by Commonwealth Body brings cheer to students and other members of the University who dedicated their services for the social cause throughout the year. This active social involvement of students is seen as one of the major enabling process to shape them into socially awakened and useful citizens of our society.”, said Prof Prem Vrat , the Vice Chancellor of ITM University.
Other social programs undertaken by the law students of the university are namely, free legal aid, securing right to information, legal advise to under-trials etc.
