Oil prices slide further

15 Dec 2022 , 03:13 PM

As the dollar strengthened on Thursday, oil prices fell in Asian trading, and concerns about demand were also raised by the prospect of additional interest rate increases from major central banks.
By 7:30 GMT, Brent crude futures had decreased by 64 cents, or 0.8%, to $82.06 per barrel, while U.S. crude futures had decreased by 73 cents, or 0.9%, to $76.55. Despite the economy teetering on the brink of a potential recession, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell warned on Wednesday that interest rates would rise higher in the United States next year.
