UPL stock settles 5% higher despite fire breakout in Gujarat-based Jhagadia unit

UPL Limited on Tuesday intimated exchanges about fire incident that broke out at the company's Jhagadia unit in Gujarat.

The fire took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning, and the plant was in shutdown condition.

"Our emergency response team and local fire brigade have already brought the fire under control. 21 people received treatment at the local hospital and 13 are already discharged with minor treatment," UPL said.

UPL added, " There is no fatality reported."

Further, UPL said, "We thank the local administration, neighbouring industries and fire brigade for their timely support."

On Sensex, UPL ended at Rs566.50 per piece higher by Rs26.65 or 4.94%. The stock has touched an intraday high of Rs569.80 per piece in trading hours.
