Due to Cyclone Nisarga, airliners like Interglobe Aviation (Indigo) and SpiceJet have asked passengers to check flight status before travelling.
On the other hand, airlines like Indigo and SpiceJet have already asked customers to check their flight status before travelling to Maharashtra and Gujarat. The airliners warn about flight cancellation and changes due to the cyclone.
Indigo through its twitter account said, "Due to cyclonic movement 'Nisarga', flights operation to/from Mumbai, Pune, Shirdi and Surat are likely to be impacted."
The airline adds," Any changes/cancellations will be notified via email/SMS."
Meanwhile, SpiceJet has informed that their flight to Mumbai airport may be impacted due to the Cyclone, and any changes or cancellation in the flights will be notified through email or SMS.
SpiceJet tweeted saying, "Passengers are requested to keep a tab on their flight status from the aforementioned airport."
On the other hand, the Indian Railways have already rescheduled few trains which were meant to leave from Mumbai on Wednesday. These trains were set to travel in places like Gorakhpur, Thiruvananthapuram, Darbhanga, Varanasi, Bhubaneshwar and Patna among others. More rescheduling can be followed depending upon the intensity of the cyclone.
Additionally, special trains from Patna, Varanasi and Thiruvananthapuram which were scheduled to arrive in Mumbai are expected to reach behind schedule.
IMD has predicted that Cyclone Nisarga will impact coastal district of Maharashtra including Mumbai and Gujarat. States like Madhya Pradesh and Goa may also witness some shocks of the cyclone.
IMD has mentioned that Nisarga is likely to intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm during next 12 hours, with a maximum sustained wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph.
In Mumbai, IMD sees extremely heavy rains at isolated places. Also, a similar situation is expected to be witnessed over north Konkan regions like Palgar, Thane, Raigad districts and north Madhya Maharashtra.
However, IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places over south Konkan ( Ratnagiri & Sindhudurg districts) & Goa and south Gujarat region (Valsad, Navsari, Dang, Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Surat districts) on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy falls at isolated places over west Madhya Pradesh is seen.
