Equity investors' wealth came down by Rs2.39 trillion because of the decline on Monday

In accordance with a deteriorating trend in the world equities markets, investors’ wealth decreased by Rs2.39 trillion on Monday. The BSE Sensex fell 861.25 points or 1.46 %, closing at 57,972.62 on the BSE. It lost 1,466.4 points, or 2.49 %, throughout the day to reach 57,367.47.

Market capitalization of BSE-listed companies decreased by Rs2,39,781.58 crore to Rs2,74,56,330.02 crore, mirroring the decline in global equities. With a 4.57 %, Tech Mahindra led all Sensex laggards. Infosys, Wipro, HCL Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tata Steel, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, and State Bank of India were the next worst performers.

Maruti, Asian Paints, Nestle, ITC, M&M, and Hindustan Unilever, on the other hand, were among the winners. Shanghai closed modestly higher as markets in Seoul, Tokyo, and Hong Kong settled down. During mid-session trades, stock markets in Europe were trading lower. On Friday, the US stock markets had fallen considerably. According to exchange statistics, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares on Friday for Rs51.12 crore.
