US ETFs combined assets stand at $1.615 trillion in Jan

Assets of all exchange-traded funds fell in January by $59.82 billion, or 3.6 percent, to $1.615 trillion

The combined assets of the US’s exchange-traded funds (ETFs) were $1.615 trillion in January, according to ICI. The Institute’s monthly statistical collection also includes the value of shares issued and redeemed by exchange-traded funds.
Assets of all exchange-traded funds fell in January by $59.82 billion, or 3.6 percent, to $1.615 trillion. Over the past 12 months, ETF assets increased $209.29 billion, or 14.9 percent. Assets in domestic equity ETFs increased $177.62 billion since January 2013, and global equity ETF assets rose $25.93 billion during this period. At the end of January 2014, assets of bond funds were $248.18 billion and hybrid funds were $1.52 billion.
During January, the value of all ETF shares redeemed exceeded that of shares issued by $15.15 billion.  In January 2013, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $28.07 billion.
