On Tuesday, Airtel said that it would take appropriate measures for rectification or reversal of an order it got under the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, stating that it did not agree with the levy of a penalty of Rs 24.94 lakh.
According to Airtel in a BSE filing, the infraction relates to purportedly erroneous input tax credit claims from 2017–18 to 2021–22 and other associated problems.
According to Airtel, which filed information about the orders it received under the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, the order was received on December 24.
It stated that ‘the company does not agree with the order and will take appropriate action for rectification/reversal of the same.’ The order carries a penalty of Rs 24,94,316. The statement read, ‘The maximum financial impact is to the extent of the penalty levied.’
