According to a top official, the German luxury automobile manufacturer Audi will discontinue producing cars with internal combustion engines (ICE) by 2033 and would only focus on electric vehicles.
Balbir Singh Dhillon, the head of Audi India, announced that the automaker would discontinue producing its existing ICE-powered models and start selling entirely electric vehicles from 2033.
Dhillon made it clear that the company would continue to produce all of the current models with gasoline engines and sell them until 2032 as it made the switch to electric vehicles.
In response to a question regarding incidences of battery-operated vehicles catching fire, he stated that all the battery’s components were transported individually and assembled at the factories by skilled workers with the utmost consideration for “safety” and “quality.”
After opening the company’s pre-owned automobile showroom here, Audi Approved Plus, he noted that it was the 17th of the 22 outlets set to open this year.
According to him, sales for Audi India increased by 101% in 2021 over the prior year, and by 49% in the company’s first six months of 2022.
