Based on strong orders, Bajaj intends to double Triumph Motorcycles' production

17 Jul 2023 , 01:30 PM

Following a stronger-than-expected reaction to the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X models, Bajaj Auto has instructed its motorcycle part suppliers to get ready to double production for the recently released Triumph series of motorcycles, according to news reports.

Since its introduction, Bajaj Auto has accepted over 15,000 reservations, and counting. According to the reports, the company intends to reach volumes of 40,000–45,000 units during the current fiscal year and 100,000–120,000 units during the following fiscal year.

According to expert estimates, this could potentially increase its revenue in the current fiscal year by 800–900 crore. On July 5, Bajaj Auto introduced the locally created and produced middleweight models from Triumph in India.

The British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph and the Pune-based motorcycle manufacturer have global cooperation for the co-development, design, and sale of middleweight motorcycle models in India and other regions. Sharma stated that the business anticipates starting exports in October.

They had previously been promised a timeline for a staged rise in manufacturing that would bring it to 5,000 units by November or December. The updated estimate is now 10,000 units or more.

As motorcycle manufacturers observe significant value and volume growth in this category, which sold over 800,000 units in FY23, competition in the 250cc-plus bike market is escalating.

Analysts anticipate that the recently introduced models would increase Bajaj Auto’s market share and sales in the 250cc category.
