On September 7, benchmark indices continued their upward trajectory for the fifth consecutive session, with the Nifty crossing the 19,700 mark.
At the close of trading, the Sensex registered a gain of 385.04 points, or 0.58%, reaching 66,265.56. Meanwhile, the Nifty recorded an increase of 116.00 points, or 0.59%, closing at 19,727. During the session, approximately 2140 stocks advanced, 1420 stocks declined, and 124 remained unchanged.
Among the top performers were stocks such as Coal India, L&T, IndusInd Bank, SBI Life Insurance, and Tech Mahindra. Conversely, there were some notable losers, including Tata Consumer Products, M&M, Britannia Industries, Sun Pharma, and Infosys.
In terms of sectors, the majority of indices demonstrated positive movement, with banking, capital goods, PSU bank, power, and realty sectors all posting gains of 1-2%. However, FMCG and pharma sectors were the exceptions, displaying some weakness.
Additionally, the BSE midcap index advanced by 0.8%, while the smallcap index saw a rise of 0.4%.
