Benchmark indices closed higher for the second consecutive session on September 4, driven by widespread buying across various sectors.
By the end of the trading day, the Sensex had gained 240.98 points, or 0.37%, reaching 65,628.14, while the Nifty had risen by 93.50 points, or 0.48%, to settle at 19,528.80. Among the stocks in focus, 2,210 saw gains, 1,425 witnessed declines, and 182 remained unchanged.
Notable gainers on the Nifty included Coal India, Wipro, HCL Technologies, UltraTech Cement, and Tata Steel. Conversely, Axis Bank, M&M, Bajaj Auto, ITC, and Asian Paints were among the top losers.
Within the Sensex, major gainers featured Tata Steel, JSW Steel, UltraTech Cement, Larsen & Toubro, Maruti, HCL Technologies, Wipro, and Tech Mahindra. On the flip side, ICICI Bank, Nestle, Asian Paints, and Power Grid experienced declines.
All sectoral indices concluded the day in positive territory, with the power, metal, auto, realty, oil & gas, and PSU Bank sectors registering gains ranging from 1% to 2.8%.
Furthermore, the BSE midcap and smallcap indices also exhibited substantial increases, both rising nearly 1% each.
