Bharat Forge Limited, through its E-Mobility subsidiary, Kalyani Powertrain Limited, has opened its first electric bike manufacturing facility in MIDC Chakan on March 8th, 2023.
The facility has a production capacity of 60,000 units per year, with the potential to expand to 100,000 units per year. The facility will primarily focus on the assembly of electric bikes for Tork Motors Private Limited, which is owned 64.29% by Kalyani Powertrain Limited.
This move is a significant step towards promoting the adoption of electric vehicles in India, which is crucial in the fight against climate change and air pollution. Electric vehicles are considered a greener and more sustainable option compared to their gasoline-powered counterparts, and their growing popularity is a positive sign for the environment.
