Suhail Sameer, the chief executive of BharatPe, who has been overseeing the troubled fintech company since it ousted co-founder Ashneer Grover on allegations of financial misappropriation, is stepping down, stated a person familiar with the development.
The firm is planning a leadership transition, and an announcement will most likely be made later this month.
Sameer’s departure will be the latest in a string of high-level departures at the Tiger Global investee firm. Three senior executives resigned from the company last month: Chief technology officer Vijay Aggarwal, PostPe CEO Nehul Malhotra, and Rajat Jain, chief product officer for lending and consumer products.
The company’s chief revenue officer, Nishit Sharma, left in June. Satyam Nathani, another founding member of BharatPe, also left in the same month to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams.
Sameer, who was previously the CEO of the FMCG business at the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, has joined BharatPe as president in August 2020. Sameer was formally appointed as CEO of BharatPe in August 2021.
