Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) informed that it has reached a key milestone with the flawless synchronization of the 660 MW Unit-2 of the 1,320 MW Maitree Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) in Bangladesh. The unit was synchronized ahead of the commitment made in a high level G2G meeting, which was a very difficult aim even at the time it was provided.
The 2×660 Maitree STPP is being built by BHEL for the Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (BIFPCL), a 50:50 joint venture between the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and NTPC Limited. It is located in Rampal, Bagerhat, Mongla, and Bangladesh.
The project represents successful collaboration between India and Bangladesh, and it is a priority infrastructure development project for Bangladesh aiming at generating reliable, cost-effective base-load power production in the country, said the company.
The BHEL team of devoted specialists has worked tirelessly to secure the successful completion of the Maitree Super Thermal Power Project. The company’s strong quality control systems and commitment to international standards were critical in creating a power plant that not only meets Bangladesh’s energy demand but also sets new milestones for operational efficiency and environmental responsibility.
At around 1.37 PM, BHEL was trading 3.68% higher at Rs 101.35, which is also a new 52-week high, against the previous close of Rs 97.75 on NSE.
