NPCIL and BHEL have recently signed an MoU to collaborate for pursuing business prospects related to nuclear power plants based on pressurized heavy water reactor (PHWR) technology.
The MoU outlines the plan for BHEL and NPCIL to jointly investigate possibilities for nuclear power projects with the aim of expediting project development time.
Through this partnership, the two entities seek to facilitate the early execution of green and long-term initiatives that align with the G20’s environmental sustainability theme and promote a shift towards a cleaner future.
BHEL is the sole Indian enterprise that has been extensively involved in all three phases of the Indian Nuclear Programme. The company has the competence to design, develop, fabricate, and distribute primary-side equipment such as reactor headers and end shields, as well as secondary-side machineries such as steam turbines, generators, and heat exchangers for nuclear power plants.
With more than 580 years of secure operational expertise, NPCIL oversees 22 operational commercial nuclear power plants in India, accounting for a total installed capacity of 6,780 MWe.
