According to a top corporate executive on Monday, the publicly traded telecom provider BSNL will begin deploying 4G network in November and gradually upgrade it to a 5G network by August of the following year.
BSNL Chairman and Managing Director PK Purwar told PTI at the India Mobile Congress that the company has plans to build out about 1.25 lakh 4G mobile stations in 18 months. According to Purwar, the initial rollout of the anticipated 4G network should happen in November.
To implement locally created 4G technology in the network, the business is in talks with IT giant TCS and a consortium managed by the state-run telecom research and development organization C-DOT. According to Purwar, software upgrades will enable the corporation to upgrade its 4G network equipment to 5G.
When questioned about the timetable for BSNL’s intentions to provide 5G services, Purwar said that the corporation is on track to do so by the August 15, 2023 timeframe set by Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
When discussing revenue dynamics, all telecom providers should consider digital inclusion and bring the offline online. “For everyone to have decent service and a quicker rollout, there should be network investment. Operators won’t be able to invest in the network if they don’t have adequate resources. Many individuals would be excluded from benefiting from emerging technologies if investment in network technology is not made “Added Purwar.
He said that India has one of the lowest average revenue per user (ARPU) rates and that it is important to determine whether this is sustainable. “Although telecom companies are in a good position to make money from other sources as well, we must also take India’s ARPU, which is the lowest in the world, into consideration. Can we maintain this ARPU at this level and yet generate the new investment? These things need to be in balance “Noted by Purwar.
