Economic Buzz: UK Monthly Production Output Falls 0.9%

UK monthly production output fell by 0.9% between May and June 2022, reaching a level that was 1.0% below February 2020; this was the last month of normal trading conditions before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The monthly fall in output resulted from a decline in two of the four production sectors, with manufacturing falling by 1.6% and mining and quarrying by 1.8%; in contrast, electricity and gas rose by 3.1%, and water supply and sewerage by 0.5%. Production output for Quarter 2 (Apr to June) rose by 0.5%, compared with Quarter 1 (Jan to Mar) 2022; there were rises from two of the production sectors, 2.9% in water supply and sewerage and 2.7% in electricity and gas, while a fall of 0.3% was seen in mining and quarrying, and manufacturing growth remained flat at 0.0%.Powered by Commodity Insights
