GAIL, the country’s largest natural gas transporter, has partnered with LanzaTech of the United States to investigate the possibility of establishing a pilot-scale carbon capture and conversion project, the firms said in a statement.
According to the statement, LanzaTech’s carbon capture and utilization technology works like a brewery: proprietary bacteria ingest carbon-rich pollutants from industrial facilities and transform them into chemicals to manufacture rubber, plastics, synthetic fibers, and fuels.
“These materials can then be utilized to produce textiles, laundry detergent, and environmentally friendly aviation fuel. Waste CO2 can be used to create the goods we require,’ stated Jennifer Holmgren, CEO of LanzaTech.
The potential outcomes resulting from this collaboration with LanzaTech appear highly promising and essential in enhancing our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint,’ stated Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL.
Using LanzaTech’s cutting-edge technology will improve our environmental responsibility and offer new doors for driving sustainability throughout our operations.
