Hackers, reportedly, have asked for Rs 200 crore in cryptocurrency from AIIMS

29 Nov 2022 , 01:19 PM

According to some news reporters, hackers have asked for Rs 200 crore in cryptocurrency from AIIMS, Delhi. The hospital’s server has remained down for the past 6 days. One probability is that this server failure is because of an unethical hack. Delhi Police, which is investigating the issue, has denied that any ransom has been asked for.  Various services to patients are being offered completely manually at the hospital, while efforts are being made to restore the server.

The server at AIIMS, Delhi contains medical records of more than 3 crore individuals. Some of them include former Prime Ministers, Ministers etc.  A server computer is the main computers, to which other computer in the network of the organization are connected. If the hackers have actually asked for ransom in cryptocurrency, it is also a surprising thing. Cryptocurrencies are currently facing a severe crisis. Their values have gone down sharply and have become extremely volatile. However, asking for ransom in cryptocurrency can make this unethical money transfer more convenient for the hackers.
